I was going through a really tough time in my life. I was putting myself through college and dealing with divorce at the same time. I am writing on behalf of Atty. Tina Fryling, an excellent lawyer with exceptional interpersonal skills. As the former director of the Erie County Adult Probation/Parole Department and Warden of the Erie County Prison, I have worked with countless attorneys. Many of them are outstanding trial lawyers, many of them interact well with all types of people, but few have both of these attributes. Tina does. I lost my job and had to declare bankruptcy. I first went to [another] lawyer who advertises and when I had my first appointment with that attorney, it was in a very small office, devoid of any sense that it was an attorney’s office. I was ushered into a small room containing a bare desk and two chairs. The attorney arrived and skimmed over my paperwork. The attorney said that I had a good case and told me what the fee would be. I had questions, but the attorney seemed to be in a hurry and didn’t really answer my questions. I left not feeling good about the attorney. There are many times in our lives that we wish that we could have done things differently; however, we cannot sit here and ‘armchair quarterback’ our mistakes. I, for one, have made more than my fair share of mistakes for which I must take full responsibility. I just wish that I had met Tina before I hired an attorney whom I conveniently worked next door to.

The circumstances that usually lead you to having to retain legal representation are not “good.” However intimidating, scary, and uncertain going through the court system can be, it can be much easier with good people on your side. I have referred many friends to Tina, and will continue to do so. One time, I referred a friend to Tina, and the matter exploded to involve myself. Tina could not represent me as it would have been a conflict of interest. At that point, Tina went out and sought counsel for me. The matter ended well.

I have my BA and Masters in Criminal Justice. When I attended school at Gannon University, Tina helped me tremendously.
